Our own educational initiatives
Both Richard Marker and Mirele Goldsmith have long been recognized leaders in the realm of philanthropy education. Many know us as conceptualizers of and key faculty in NYU’s program in funder education, and, since 2016, as key faculty in the funder education program of the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for High Impact Philanthropy. University faculty is only one of the numerous modes in which we serve as educators to the sector.
These many other initiatives have been consolidated into a Philanthropy Support Organization, the Wise Philanthropy™ Institute. The goal of the Institute is to enhance the knowledge of those who give of their resources, and those professionals who serve them, to challenge the field to address the most difficult issues in philanthropy, and to encourage the highest ethical behavior. We are proud that, over the years, we have been joined in these efforts by several extraordinary colleagues, all of whom are widely recognized in their own right.
We have educated many different kinds of audiences, throughout the United States and elsewhere in the world.
Those served by the Institute:
- Individual funders, philanthropists, trustees
- Private and Family Foundations [staff and trustees]
- Wealth managers and their clients
- Community foundations and other public grantmaking organizations
- Philanthropy organizations and affinity groups
- Seminars and workshops
- Multi-day courses
- Problem solving coaching
- Facilitated interactive sessions
- Proprietary case method
- Customized presentations
